While immersed in college life around the turn of the millennium, Josh Kimball began shooting images of anything and everything with no formal training and a fairly basic camera kit. Soon after graduating, a few of his images ran in leading publications, and what began as a hobby soon became a career path as dozens of national and international magazines, books, calendars, newspapers, and websites collectively went on to publish hundreds of his images. Editorial pursuits hit a peak for Kimball when THE SURFER'S JOURNAL used his photo of Jeffrey's Bay on the cover of their Winter 2009 issue (Vol 18. #1).
When not shooting photos, surfing is Kimball’s other lifelong passion, and he’s had the opportunity to visit, shoot photos of, and surf in more than a dozen countries worldwide. A California native who has lived in many different parts of the Golden State, Kimball currently resides in San Francisco.
