February 2, 1999 saw about the biggest waves that anyone has ever seen in Puerto Rico. The swell was 12 feet at 18 seconds, and size and period that are rarely seen in our waters, and factors that made Tres Palmas the focal point of the wave energy. Throw in a straight North swell direction and the inside bowl at Tres Palmas was turning itself inside out. Free swimming this day was out of the question so I ended up borrowing an 8 foot funboard that allowed me to see over the chop and into the belly of this beast.

Steve's work is available in multiple sizes and mediums. His canvas prints are limited edition of 50, signed and numbered by Steve himself!
