 Based in
Santa Cruz, California, Sam is
a relative newcomer to
photography, having first
picked up a camera less than
five years ago. Inspired by
the beautiful surroundings of
Northern and Central
California, this self-taught
photographer took up the craft
in an effort to share the
unique way in which he views
the California coast and its
inhabitants. Sam attempts to
capture the feelings and
experiences one has as a
surfer and approaches surf
photography from the
perspective that the surfer is
only a small part of what
makes a photograph special.
While Sam has traveled
extensively, his experiences
have only served to reinforce
his love of all that
California has to offer. With
spectacular scenery,
world-class waves, and a huge
stable of surfing talent in
his backyard, Sam has come to
realize “there is no
place like home.”
