Dave first started painting while attending chiropractic school in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1998. Desperately missing the ocean and surfing, he picked up a paintbrush for the first time at age 28 and went to work on painting a solitary wave on a canvas. Soon after, a friend offered to buy the painting for $40 and Dave started to realize people appreciated his work. By 2002 (many, many bad paintings later) the artist had the good fortune to be represented by three galleries nationwide.

This was a fast painting. i loved how the surfers were so small when compared to the sky. i was going for giving the viewer the feeling of being outdoors. the only wave in the scene is breaking on the beach in between the figures, and that hopefully draws your eye to the surfers after taking in the sky.
