Robb Havassy has joined the crew over here at Waveriders Gallery, and is our newest addition to the site. He has works available in multiple sizes and has limited editions that are available as well. Take some time and browse through his page, I am sure you will like what you see.
Robb has had quite an interesting life, and has been surfing for quite some time now. He started painting later in his life, and has found his calling. He started out as a GQ model, and somewhere down the road found himself falling in love with painting. And what better to paint than the ocean and waves that mean so much to all of us? I have had the pleasure of eating sushi with Robb, and to say the least, he is a great guy!
Peace, Tim

We have teamed up with Surfaid International, and will be selling an original painting for them that was created as a poster for their Swim 4 Life benefit event. The Painting was done by artist Micaiah Hardison, and will be sold on our website. All of the proceeds will be given directly to Surfaid International. We want to help support them in their efforts to the alleviation of suffering through health projects that enhance local capacities and promote community-based, self-help solutions, guided by the aspirations of its beneficiaries.
The Swim 4 Life event will be held at the Wave House Athletic Club in Mission Beach, San Diego, on March 31, 2007. For more information or to join in the event, you can visit www.surfaidinternational.org/swim4life, or call 760-753-1103.

One of our photographers, Grant Myrdal, is having a gallery showing up in Bend, Oregon. All of us here are fans of Grant’s work and encourage everyone in the area to go and spread some cheer at the show. It will be held at the Mirror Pond Gallery, which is located on 875 NW Wall St, Bend, OR. The show will open this Friday, February 2, as a part of Bend’s “First Friday” gallery art walk. It will run throughout the month until the 24th of February. The “Sacred Journey” compiles a collection of work from hawaii, new york and his new environment, the snowy volcanic landscape of Oregon.

Hi all,
All of us here at Waveriders Gallery are charging full bore to get the site up, and are excited about our premiere. The end is in sight and the crew here is busy adding the finishing touches, entering in artists’ details, dotting i’s and crossing t’s. Everything’s coming together quite nicely and looking sharp. We enthusiastically look forward to our launch and hope that you are, too. Be sure to keep checking back in the coming weeks!
Also on the horizon: Action Sports Retailers Convention January 25th-27th. We’ll be strolling the halls, so we hope to bump into those of you attending to say hi face to face.
And despite the wintry chill, we hope that you are all catching some decent waves. Take care.
Cheers,
Albert

Aloha all,
We are getting closer to the finish line. We are going to have the site up and running shortly after the new year. We are working on getting all of the functionality of the site dialed in, as well as laying out the pages. I hope all of you have taken advantage of all the swell that we have been receiving, that is, all of us on the west coast. It looks like there is another big one brewing out there in the Northern Pacific that is going to light up Hawaii, and the California Coast. We hope you’re out there scoring waves and we wish all of you happy holidays.
Mahalo,
Tim

Quick update: Talented Waveriders artist Robert Heeley is taking a break from his coastal California odyssey to exhibit some of his most recent work. The particulars: Saturday, November 17th, 6-8pm, the Delphine Gallery (1324 State Street, Suite J, Santa Barbara, CA, 93101). Master lensman Scott Winer just returned from shooting off-season Tavarua (pics above). In between shoots, he’s happy to report, he logged quality tube time at Restaurants. Insert your own envious pejorative for Mr. Winer here. Keep it wet, Eric

Some of the finest surf art is being produced everyday in shaping bays across the country. We anticipate “functional” surf sculpture to be a cornerstone of Waveriders Gallery. We’re currently talking to Danny Hess of Hess Surfboards, Paul Jensen of Jensen Surfboards, and Mike Lavecchia at Grain about featuring their boards. If you haven’t seen ‘em, you’ll be blown away.
The swell did arrive as promised, and Blacks was holding. Promise of things to come? One can only hope. Peace, Eric

Happy holidays! A number of artists and photographers have recently joined us. Artists Ken Auster, Kevin Short, Jim Parkhurst, Ea Eckerman, and the late Pat Tobin will now be featured, in addition to photographers Dalton Portella and Grant Myrdal. We would like to welcome these talented artists to the fold. We’re currently working on sourcing framing suppliers and giclee printing houses and building the site, and expect to show you the results soon. We’re also waxing up for the throbbing northwest slated for the upcoming weekend. Hope you score some. Peace, Tim
