“I have 2 new shows coming up at the end of September in Chicago. Conveniently both opening receptions are on the same night, Friday October 3rd. Just think of all the gas you’ll save, and you’ll only have to pay for a baby sitter once.  I hope to see you there!

The Chicago Art Open is my second show for October which will be held at the Chicago Merchandise Mart. http://www.caconline.org/ArtOpen.asp. This will not only be the biggest show I’ve ever been featured in, but probably one of the biggest shows of the year in Chicago. I will be featured along with 300 of Chicago’s finest professional and emerging artists. It’s also a biggie for all of you who have bought paintings over the years because your value just went way up! The painting chosen for this show is a personal favorite of mine entitled Evanston.

Surf artist Wade Koniakowsky will hold a workshop for aspiring painters wanting professional help in the fundamentals of painting in oils and acrylics. The event will take place on May 24th from 10am-2pm and will provide information on color, composition, painting land and seascapes and much more. The next Waveriders Gallery event will be held on March 15th from 6:30-9:00PM. The work of surf photographer David Pu’u will be featured and will include a selection of pieces not available in our online catalog. Surf artist Wade Koniakowsky will also be on hand to conduct a painting demonstration which will provide surf art aficionados with a rare opportunity to watch the creation of original pieces of art right before their eyes. These one of a kind paintings will be available for purchase that evening and a selection of Wade’s prints and originals will also be on display for your viewing and buying pleasure. Beer and wine will be provided, so come thirsty!

Wade Koniakowsky will be at Surf Expo in Orlando, Florida in January showing some new “art boards” and releasing a new line of men’s shirts with Coastal Classics. The show runs from the 10-13th of January. Following this, Wade will be in Puerto Rico for a show at the Playa Oeste Gallery in Rincon, on the 18th of January. Then its back to Charleston SC for a show at Las Olas Ocean Market in downtown Charleston on the 25th, and last but not least he will be showing at the Open Studio in Folly Beach, North Carolina on the 26th.

Surf painter Alan Casagrande’s work will be shown on an ongoing basis at the Surf Hut Gallery in Encinitas. The showing began this December. Heather Brown’s work will be on display at the Wyland Gallery’s Surf & Wave Art Show at 66-250 Kamehameha Hwy. in Haleiwa, Hawaii. The event will take place on November 4th from 6pm - 10pm and will also feature Waveriders photographer Sean Davey as well as a live music performance with surf legend Tom Curren on drums.

Surf Artist Meegan Feori has lined up a booth at the Pointsettia Festival in Encinitas, which will be held on November 18th from 9am – 5pm on Pacific Coast Highway between South Encinitas Blvd. and E St. The event will also feature live music and food, so be sure to make a day of it! Ron Croci, who was recently asked to submit a logo for the Island Nation of Samoa, has just finished the final studies for a graphic novel developed exclusively for web-ready cell phones. He is also preparing some new pieces for the one year anniversary of McKibben Studios in Corona Del Mar. The event will be held on November 10th at 3100 E. Coast Highway and will also feature Waveriders Gallery artists Norm Daniels and Tony Spineto.
